Sound source localization in reverberant environments using an outlier elimination algorithm
نویسندگان
چکیده
Di erences in arrival times of acoustic waves at multiple sensors permit the computation of source location. The computation depends upon delay estimation between sensor pairs. In severe acoustic environments, the estimates are degraded by reverberation and interfering noise, and some estimates are poor, constituting outlier. This report describes a computational method for outlier elimination to improve the accuracy of source location.

Low latency localization of multiple sound sources in reverberant environments.
Sound source localization algorithms determine the physical position of a sound source in respect to a listener. For practical applications, a localization algorithm design has to take into account real world conditions like multiple active sources, reverberation, and noise. The application can impose additional constraints on the algorithm, e.g., a requirement for low latency. This work define...
متن کاملA Robust Dual-Microphone Speech Source Localization Algorithm for Reverberant Environments
Speech source localization (SSL) using a microphone array aims to estimate the direction-of-arrival (DOA) of the speech source. However, its performance often degrades rapidly in reverberant environments. In this paper, a novel dual-microphone SSL algorithm is proposed to address this problem. First, the time-frequency regions dominated by direct sound are extracted by tracking the envelopes of...
متن کاملAccurate Sound Localization in Reverberant Environments Is Mediated by Robust Encoding of Spatial Cues in the Auditory Midbrain
In reverberant environments, acoustic reflections interfere with the direct sound arriving at a listener's ears, distorting the spatial cues for sound localization. Yet, human listeners have little difficulty localizing sounds in most settings. Because reverberant energy builds up over time, the source location is represented relatively faithfully during the early portion of a sound, but this r...

The problem of segregating a sound source of interest from an acoustic background has been extensively studied due to applications in hearing prostheses, robust speech/speaker recognition and audio information retrieval. Computational auditory scene analysis (CASA) approaches the segregation problem by utilizing grouping cues involved in the perceptual organization of sound by human listeners. ...

We propose an effective approach to acoustic indoor localization that works in reverberant environments. The proposed localization system has been implemented to operate in an inaudible frequency range for practical applications. In order to achieve high performance, we propose an effective acoustic source data structure with a synchronization algorithm. To evaluate the proposed system, series ...
